MARGIN / SAFE ZONE GUIDE

WHAT IS A SAFE ZONE AND WHY IS IT REQUIRED?
When text appears on the artwork it needs to be inside a 5mm margin or safe zone. This is to ensure we do not cut off any of the information when we trim the final printing to the desired size. There is a small tolerance with the guillotine which means there can be slippage when cutting so this reinforces the need for a safe area. Any document that is being professionally printed will require a safe zone.

The diagram shows a correctly set up business card with a 5mm margin indicated by a bold red line.

WHAT IS THE SAFE ZONE?
The safe zone is the 5mm inside of the cutting edge in which no text or important information should be placed. Any graphics in this area risk being clipped when cutting.
